Join Berkeley Art Center Executive Director, Suzanne Tan for an intimate exploration of the natural world, inspired by the Center’s idyllic setting in Live Oak Park and above Codornices Creek. The exhibition includes video installation, artists who work with ephemeral and recycled materials, and performative and interactive components that blur the physical separation of the gallery and its natural environment. The private tour of the exhibit will be followed by a leisurely walk on the historic paths near Codornices Creek. No dogs, please.
Artists include Judith Selby Lang and Richard Lang, Kim Anno and Ricardo Rivera, Terri Friedman, Alicia Escott, Mari Andrews, and Zach Pine.

In a celebration not only of community volunteers but also global climate action, this walk will span 4 towns and involve 4 different community groups. We will start at the Rockridge BART Station where we join Paul Rosenbloom and Oakland Urban Paths on a tour of some of North Oakland’s paths. We will then hook up with Jen English and Colleen Neff in the area of Ashby and Domingo for the Berkeley leg of the trip, led by the Berkeley Path Wanderers. We’ll have lunch near the UC campus and say goodbye to anyone who wishes to make their way to the the downtown Berkeley BART station. We’ll then head to Kensington where Lorraine Osmundson of the Kensington Improvement Club will lead us over some of Kensington’s paths. We’ll then head north to El Cerrito to be intercepted by Joseph Nichols of the newly formed El Cerrito Trail Trekkers, who will cover some of the paths currently being restored by that organization. From there, we will make our way down to the El Cerrito BART station. No dogs, please.

Our keynote speaker will be Karin Tuxen-Bettman, from Google. She will discuss using Google Earth & Google Maps to plan, track, and map your path hikes and wanderings, including viewing historical imagery of the area, finding the elevation profile of your walk, and uploading your photos and GPS paths to Google Earth. Our honorary host will be Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates, who gave up his car two years ago in favor of walking and riding the bus. A short business meeting, including the election of officers and slides of our recent path building efforts will precede the program, which is free and open to the public. We will also vote on adopting amendments to the existing Association bylaws. For more information visit the Berkeley Path Wanderers website.
